1-10 Flashcards
Technique used to define the size of an angle as a fraction of a full circle (360)
Angular Measurement
A drawing that shows how different parts are connected to form an assembly.
Assembly Drawing
A numeric value stating the exact size, contours, orientation, or position of a feature or datum.
Basic Dimension
An angled surface on the edge of an object. Normally used to eliminate sharp corners.
Bevel
A hole drilled to a specific depth that is less than the thickness of the part being drilled.
Blind Hole
To enlarge a hole to close tolerance an fine finish. A bored hole is more accurate than a drilled hole, but less accurate than a reamed hole.
Bore
A raised cylindrical surface on a casting, which provides additional material on a part. A cylindrical pad.
Boss
A line used to separate a broken-out section from the otherwise normal view.
Break Line
A sectional view contained within another view, separated by a break line. Used when only a small portion of the view must be shown in sectional view.
Broken-Out Section
Creating a drawing using a computer.
CAD (Computer-Aided Drafting)
A bevel placed on a circular piece or part.
Chamfer
The outline of an object, especially curved or irregular-shaped outlines.
Contour
To enlarge the end of a hole cylindrically to a specified depth. Normally used to provide recess for a fastener head or a bearing seat.
Counterbore
To enlarge the end of a hole conically. Normally used to allow recess for a flathead screw.
Countersink
An imaginary plane that divides an object to produce a sectional view.
