CHARACTERSTIC FEATURE: High ESR > 100 mm

headache visual disturbances jaw claudication muscle pain (polymyalgia rheumatia) investigation on biopsy treatment with corticosteroids IF SUSPECT TEMPORAL ARTERITIS GIVE CORTICOSTEROIDS
TAKAYASU ARTERITIS
granulomatous vasculitis < 50 yrs young asian female INVOLVES AORTIC ARCH AT BRANCH POINTS. ESR high visual neurologic symptoms PULSELESS DISEASE give corticosteroids
Middle vessel vasculitis?
involves muscular arteries that supply organs
01-polyarteritis nodusa
02-kawasaki disease
03-beugers disease
polyarticular nodosa
necrotizing vasculitis
LUNGS ARE SPARED
in young adults
different signs depending upon organ effected
symptoms, labs, treatment of polyarteritis nodosa
hypertension if renal artery
abdominal pain with melena if mesenteric artery
skin lesions.
Serum HBsAg associated.
SRTINGS OF PEARLS APPEARANCE
give corticosteroids and cyclophosphamide.
kawasaki disease?
Involves coronary artery affects asian children <4 yrs very vague symptoms: fever , conjuctivitis ,erythematous rash on palms and soles , enlarge cervical lymph nodes. GIVE ASPIRIN AND IV ig. self-limited
buerger disease?
necrotizing vasculitis
PRESENTS WITH ULCERATION OF FINGERS AND TOES.
HIGHLY ASSOCIATED WITH SMOKING.
TREATMENT: STOP SMOKING
