05. Equipment Flashcards
Concerning cyrogenic liquid systems, what volume of gas does 1 volume of liquid oxygen give you?
842 times its volume.
What is the pressure inside a VIE?
10.5 bar
Does oxygen require heating at the outlet of a cryogenic liquid system?
heating of gaseous oxygen is required at the outlet using a heat exchanger
What is the length of onsite storage capacity requirement of VIE?
14 days.
Is nitrous oxide liquid in cylinders?
yes, up to 95% liquid
Regarding pipes:
What are they made of?
What is the pipeline pressure of oxygen, N2O, medical air and surgical air?
Made of copper,
4 bar for all except surgical air which is 7 bar.
Difference between where Schrader sockets and NIST are used?
- Schrader sockets and probes are used to connect to terminal outlets for medical gases.
- NIST is used to connect to anaesthetic machines.
What flow does the emergency oxygen flush have to provide?
It should provide at least 35 L/min to match inspiratory flow rate
What flow should suction be able to provide?
25 L/min is a required displacement capacity of suction system
How do you check the performance of the suction system?
should be able to generate negative pressure of more than 500 mmHg in 10 seconds when tube is kinked.
Suction tubing should be off high/ low resistance and compliance?
low resistance and compliance.
In a TEC 6 Vapouriser:
What is the purpose of the splitting ratio?
What is Desflurane heated to?
Splitting ration ensures saturation of fresh gas flow with anaesthetic vapour.
TEC 6 is heated to 39C.
23.5C is boiling temperature of Desflurane
How much CO2 will 1kg of soda lime absorb?
250 L
What is the largest component of soda lime?
The largest component calcium hydroxide (80%)
What size is the scavenger connector?
30 mm
