A
  • forget to have patient take off glasses, or remove dental appliances
  • movement of patient or tubehead during exposure=blurred image (motion artifact)

technique errors

A
  • not including distals of canines when required, apices cut off, not enough of bone included, etc
  • backwards film=herringbone/tire track pattern superimposed on film from the lead foil
  • dot articfact, “put the dot in the slot”, and it should be placed at the coronal/occlusal portion so the apex can be seen
  • cone cut, bad setup and ring is superimposed, angulation errors,

A

-retained hypo (thiosulfate) from the fixer reacting with the metallic silver image to form brown silver sulfide
