what type of patient preparation errors often occur?
A
- forget to have patient take off glasses, or remove dental appliances
- movement of patient or tubehead during exposure=blurred image (motion artifact)

technique errors
A
- not including distals of canines when required, apices cut off, not enough of bone included, etc
- backwards film=herringbone/tire track pattern superimposed on film from the lead foil
- dot articfact, “put the dot in the slot”, and it should be placed at the coronal/occlusal portion so the apex can be seen
- cone cut, bad setup and ring is superimposed, angulation errors,

if the film is processed without having been exposed, what will the plastic film look like?
A
the plastic film will be clear with a blue tint

the image will be completely black

what causes the brown stains when rads age?
A
-retained hypo (thiosulfate) from the fixer reacting with the metallic silver image to form brown silver sulfide
