03.1 Flashcards
is the assignment of the required resources to each activity, in the required amount and timing
Resource allocation
Is minimizing the fluctuations on day-to-day resources use throughout the project. It is usually done by shifting noncritical activities within their available float. It attempts to make the daily use of certain resources as uniform as possible.
Resource leveling
Simple means assigning the right amount of resources to each activity at the right time. The object of this step id to load each activity with the amount of resources it requires and hence calculate its budget. This can help link scheduling with estimating and accounting.
Resource allocation
Is simply trying to maintain uniform daily use of a resource for the entire life cycle of the project or for the longest continuous segment of it.
Resource leveling
May be defined as the maximum amount of time an activity can be delayed without delaying the early start of the succeeding activities
Free float
In this context include, labor, equipment and materials
Resources
Leveling resources, starting from project start and going through all project activities, fulfilling their resource requirements snd maintaining the total resource usage within the set limits
Forward resource leveling
Leveling resources, starting from project finish and going through all project activities, fulfilling their resource requirements and maintaining the total resource usage within the set limits
Backward resource leveling
Is defined as the planning and controlling of all necessary resources efforts to ensure that the correct quality and quantity of materials and equipment are appropriately specified in a timely manner, are obtained at a reasonable cost , and are available when needed
