02.07 txt planning for implants Flashcards
how much space do you want between a tooth and an implant
1.5-2 mm, so basically for a 4 mm implant, you need 7 mm between teeth
how much ridge width is needed for an implant
1-2 mm of bone on both lingual and facial, remember to take the soft tissue into accout
how much interarch space is needed?
- abutment height=5 mm
- crown thickness=2 mm
- thus minimum space = about 7 mm
- this is for a cement-retained implant, if there is less space, a screw retained implant could be used
what is the amount that a patient needs to be able to open for the procedure
35 mm interarch when opening
desirable tissue condition
you want keratinized tissue, you don’t want the tissue around the implant to move, that can allow the implant to pierce thru the non-keratinized tissue
how far below the gingiva do you want the “table” to be?
2-4 mm
amount of space needed between implants
3 mm
disadvantages of an immediate implant
-compromisedfixturestability
• augmentationmayberequired
• primaryclosuredifficult
Criteria for immediate implant placement :
-absence of infection
-sufficient residual socket walls
• adequate apical bone for primary stabilization
• available soft tissue for primary closure
