Procedure

Answer 1

1. Add 2cm3 of the test solution into a test-tube.
2. Add an equal volume of Benedict’s Reagent into the test-tube.
3. Shake the mixture.
4. Immerse the test-tube in a boiling water bath for 3-4 minutes.

Answer 3

1. Boil an equal volume of test solution with dilute Hydrochloric Acid for 1 minute.
2. Cool the contents of the test-tube.
3. Neutralise the acidic content with Sodium Bicarbonate solution.
4. Carry out Benedict’s Test for Reducing Sugars.
