In a regular verb hacer ( to do/to make ) would conjugate in the first person to haci ( I did / I made ) but this is one of many irregular verbs that follow the same rough pattern.
1 : Take hacer, remove the ending to reveal stem only ( hac )
2 : Change the stem hac to hic
3 : Add on ending for AR verbs ( e )
4 : This gives hice
Note there is no accent on the e so the push is on the i, I the penultimate syllable as common
5 : The 3rd person follows the same pattern, keeping the new stem ( hic ) but changing it slight to hiz and then adding the ending for AR VERBS ( o ).
6 : Again there is no accent over there o so the push is on the i.
7 : For all other conjugations keep the same stem ( hic ) and simply add on the regular endings for preterite er and ir verbs.
( el dice hice = he says I did )
