Assistive/prosthetic device
Means a device used to replace, compensate for or improve the functional abilities of people with disabilities or for trans gender to affirm gender identity
Booking hall system BHS
Video surveillance systems installed in the Sally port, booking hall or other areas of police facilities. It is operated by the booking officer
Booking officer
Means a police officer, court officer or custodial officer designated by the oic as the person responsible for the care and handling of persons detained in custody
Court cells
Means a cell used during those hours In which court is sitting.
A person will be lodged when
Being held for a court appearance
Awaiting transportation to a detention facility
Ordered into custody by the court
Designated operator
Any member designated as an audio/video operator with an understanding how to operate equipment
Detention area monitoring system
DAMS
Surveillance video system installed in the prisoner detention areas of a police facility, cells , bullpen designed to monitor and record the condition of prisoners while in custody
Detention facility
Means a central lock up
Accused young person under 18 yrs may be logged in a divisional cell only
To prevent injury or protect others from aggressive behavior AND
When there is no adult present in the cells OR
When there is an adult present in the cells and there is adequate space to isolate the young person

Abandoned property
Means a thing over which a person has surrendered any possessor right or privacy right and which may or may not relate to a crime and or crime scene and which has some evidentiary value
Continued detention
Means the detention of property beyond the initial 3 months from the date of seizure

Means any person under 18yrs of age
Natural causes
Means a death due to explainable medical causes including old age or disease
Unnatural sudden death
Means the unexpected death of a person by suicide, homicide, accident or suspicious circumstances and includes found human remains
Incident commander
Means the police officer who has taken charge of the incident and who is in charge at the command post. Responsible for coordinating and managing police response at the incident
