. Flashcards
NEUTRALISATION
Acid + Alkali - Salt + water
Acid
H+ Ions
Alkali
OH- Ions
STRONG ACID
Ionsises completely in a solution
(Eg. Hydrochloric acid)
WEAK ACIDS
Partially iosise in a solution
(Eg.Citric Acids)
Methyl orange indicator
Titration
CATHODE
Negative, positive cations attracted where they are REDUCED
ANODE
Iona are attracted to the positive anode, negative anions are OXIDISED
How do you get pure water from a salt solution
Distillation -evaporate the water and condense it back into liquid, leaving the salt behind
Why are metals good conductors ?
They form a lattice surrounded by a sea of delocalised electrons which are free to move. This is why metals are good conductors of electricity and heat.
