Anaphora
Repetition of a word, phrase or clause at the beginning of two or more sentences in a row
Anecdote
A brief recounting of a relevant episode. Anecdotes are often inserted into fictional or nonfictional texts as a way of developing a point of injecting humor
Counterclaim
An opposing viewpoint
Fallacy
An erroneous argument dependent upon an unsound or illogical contention.
Form
The particular structure or organization of a work
Hyperbole
Exaggeration used to suggest strong emotion or create a comic effect
Irony
When the opposite of what you expect to happen does
Imagery
Created by the details that appeal to one or more of the 5 senses
Memoir
An account of personal experiences of the author; autobiographical account
Metaphor
A comparison between two unlike things in which one thing is spoken of as if it were another, for example, the moon was a crisp white cracker

Parallelism
Also referred to as parallel construction. It refers to the grammatical or rhetorical framing of words, phrases, sentences, or paragraphs to give structural similarity.
Parenthetical Citations
Citations to original sources that appear in the text of your paper. This allows the reader to see immediately where your information comes from, and it saves you the trouble of having to make footnotes or endnotes
Refutation
The action of proving a statement or theory to be wrong or false; the reasoning used to disprove an opposing point
