𝔻𝕖𝕗𝕚𝕟𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟𝕤 Flashcards
Species:
a group of organisms with similar characteristics that produce fertile offspring
Population:
a group of organisms of the same spruced that are found in a particular area and can crossbreed freely
Community:
a group of populations occurring in a particular area
Ecosystem:
a unit of plant and animal communities in interaction with each other as well as with the non-living factors in a particular area
Environment:
the external factors, biotic and abiotic factors surrounding an organism influencing is development and survival
Habitat:
the specific environment in which a plant species normally occurs
Natality:
is the birth rate of population, normally expressed the number of live births 1000/ year
Mortality:
is the death rate of a population, normally expressed as the number of deaths 1000/ year
Immigration:
is the one-way movement of organisms into an area where they become established
Emigration:
is the one-way movement of organisms or if an area to become established
Density dependent factors:
factors that take effect when population size or density increases
Density independent factors:
factors that limit the size of a population regardless of the density of the population
Producers:
all green plants that are able to photosynthesis and thus produce their own organic food
Trophic level:
the position occupied in a food chain by an organism or many
Consumers:
organisms that cannot produce their own food, they are indirectly or directly dependent on the producers or other consumers for their food
