Gatherings are to be kept in confidence.

المَجَالِسُ بِالأمَانَةِ

Question 2

A person will be with whom he loves

المَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ

Question 3

Alcohol constitutes many sins

Answer 3

الخَمْرُ جُمَّاعُ الإثْمِ

Question 4

A believer is simple and noble and a transgressor is deceitful and ignoble

المُؤْمِنُ غِرٌّ كَرِيْمٌ, وَّالْفَاجِرُ خَبٌّ لَّئِيمٌ

Question 5

Oppression will be darknesses on the Day of Judgement

الظُّلْمُ ظُلمَاتٌ يَّوْمَ القِيَامَةِ

Question 6

عThe one who initiates the salam is free of pride

Answer 6

البَادِئُ بِالسَّلَامِ بَرِيْءٌ مِّنَ الكِبَرِ

Question 7

The miswak purifies the mouth and pleases the Lord

Answer 7

السِّوَاكُ مَطْهَرَةٌ لِّلْفَمِ، مَرْضَاةٌ لِّلرَّبِّ

Question 8

The upper hand is superior to the lower hand

Answer 8

اليَدُ العُلْيَا خَيرٌ مِّنَ اليَدِ السُّفْلى

Question 9

Backbiting is worse than unlawful intercourse

Answer 9

الغِيْبَةُ أشَدُّ مِنَ الزِّنَا

Question 10

Purity is half of faith

Answer 10

الطُهُوْرُ شَطْرُ الإِيْمَانِ

Question 11

The Qur’an will either be evidence for you or against you

القُرْآنُ حُجَّةٌ لَّكَ أَوْ عَلَيْكَ

Question 12

Bells are the flutes of Satan

الْجَرَسُ مَزَامِيْرُ الشَّيْطَانِ

Question 13

Women are the snares of Satan

النِّسَاءُ حَبَائِلُ الشَّيطَانِ

Question 14

The one who eats and is thankful is like the one who fasts and is patient

Answer 14

الطَّاعِمُ الشَّاكِرُ كَالصَّائِمِ الصَّابِرِ

Question 15

Moderation in spending is half of [one’s] sustenance, friendliness toward people is half of [one’s] intelligence, and asking good questions is half of [one’s] knowledge

اَلاِقْتِصَادُ فِي النَّفَقَةِ نَصْفُ المَعِيشَةِ وَ التَّوَدُّدُ إِلَى النَّاسِ نِصْفُ العَقْلِ وَحُسْنُ السُّؤَالِ نِصْفُ العِلمِ

Question 16

One who repents from sin is like one who has no sin

التَّائِبُ مِنَ الذَّنْبِ كَمَنْ لَّا ذَنْبَ لَهُ

Question 17

The clever one is he who has subdued his lower self and who has worked for what comes after death, and the stupid one is he who has put his lower self in pursuance of its desires and who has vain hopes about Allah

الكَيِّسُ مَنْ دَانَ نَفْسَهُ وَ عَمِل لَمِا بَعْدَ المَوْتِ، وَالعَاجِزُ مَنْ أتْبَعَ نَفْسَهُ هَوَاهَا وَ تَمَنَّى عَلَى اللهِ

Question 18

The believer is one who is sociable [with others], and there is no good in one who is not sociable [with others] nor in one who is not met sociably [by them]

المُؤْمِنُ مَأْلَفٌ، وَّ لَا خَيْرَ فِيْمَنْ لَّا يَأْلَفُ وَ لَا يُؤْلَفُ

Question 19

Songs make hypocrisy grow in the heart just as water makes crops grow

Answer 19

الغِنَاءُ يُنْبِتُ النِّفَاقَ فِي القَلْبِ كَمَا يُنْبِتُ المَاءُ الزَّرْعَ

Question 20

Traders will be gathered on the Day of Judgement as transgressors, except those who feared Allah, were righteous [in their oaths], and spoke the truth

التُّجَّارُ يُحْشَرُوْنَ يَوْمَ القِيامَةِ فُجَّارًا إِلاَّ مَنِ اتَّقى وَ بَرَّ وَ صَدَقَ

Question 21

A truthful and trustworthy trader will be in the company of the prophets, the very truthful, and the martyrs

التَّاجِرُ الصَّدُوقُ الأَمِينُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّنَ وَ الصِّدِّيقِينَ وَ الشُّهَدَاءِ

Question 22

The signs of a hypocrite are three: when he speaks he lies, when he makes a promises he breaks it, and when he is trusted he betrays the trust

Answer 22

آيَةُ المُنَافِقِ ثَلاثٌ: إذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ، وَ إِذَا وَعَدَ أَخلَفَ، وَ إِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ

Question 23

The major sins are worshipping others besides Allah, disobeying parents, killing a human being [unlawfully], and the immersing oath

الكَبَائِرُ: الإِشْرَاكُ بِاللهِ، وَ عُقُوْقُ الوَالِدَيْنِ، وَ قَتْلُ النَّفْسِ، وَ اليَمِينُ الغَمُوْسُ

Question 24

Righteousness is good character, and sin is what causes uneasiness in your heart and what you dislike others to become aware of

البِرُّ حُسْنُ الخُلُقِ، وَ الإِثْمُ مَا حَاكَ فِي صَدرِكَ، وَ كَرِهْتَ أَن يَّطَّلِعَ عَلَيْهِ النَّاسُ

Question 25

All created beings are Allah's dependants, and the most beloved of creation to Allah is the one who is good to His dependants

الخَلْقُ عِيَالُ اللهِ فَأَحَبُّ الخَلْقِ إِلى اللهِ مَنْ أحْسَنَ إِلى عِيَالِهِ

Question 26

A [true] Muslim is he from whose tongue and hand other believers remain safe

Answer 26

المُسْلِمُ مَنْ سَلِمَ المُسْلِمُوْنَ مِن لِّسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ

Question 27

And a [true] warrior is one who exerts himself in obedience to Allah.

Answer 27

المُجَاهِدُ مَنْ جَاهَدَ نَفْسَهُ فِي طَاعَةِ اللهِ

Question 28

And a [true] emigrant is he who abandons all wrongs and sins.

Answer 28

وَ المُهَاجِرُ مَنْ هَجَرَ الخَطَايَا وَ الذُنُوْبَ

Question 29

The burden of proof is on the accuser and swearing the oath is on the one accused.

اَلْبَيِّنَةُ على المُدَّعِيْ وَ اليَمِيْنُ عَلَى المُدَّعى عَلَيْهِ

Question 30

A believer is a mirror for a believer, and a believer is the brother of a believer; he safeguards him from destruction and protects him in his absence

المُؤْمِنُ مِرْآةُ المُؤْمِنِ وَ المُؤْمِنُ أَخُو المُؤْمِنِ يَكُفُّ عَلَيْهِ ضَيْعَتَهُ وَ يَحُوْطُهُ مِن وَّرَائِهِ

Question 31

Believers are like a single person; if his eye is in pain his whole body pains, and if his head is in pain his whole body pains

المُؤْمِنُوْنَ كَرَجُلٍ وَّاحِدٍ إِنِ اشْتَكى عَيْنُهُ اشْتَكى كُلُّهُ وَ إِنِ اشْتَكى رَأْسُهُ اشْتَكى كُلُّهُ

Question 32

Travelling involves a degree of punishment; it deprives one of his sleep, food, and drink. Therefore, when one has accomplished his purpose at his destination, he should hurry back to his family

السَّفَرُ قِطْعَةٌ مِّنَ العَذَابِ يَمْنَعُ أَحَدَكُمْ نَوْمَهُ وَ طَعَامَهُ وَ شَرَابَهُ فَإِذَا قَضى أَحَدُكُمْ نَهْمَتَهُ مِنْ وَجْهِهِ فَلْيَعْجَلْ إلى أهْلِهِ
