How long is the writing section?

29 minutes

How many tasks are there?

2 tasks
- 1 integrated task (20 minutes to write)*
- 1 academic discussion task (10 minutes to write)*

During the Integrated Task, how long do you get to read the passage?
A
You first get 3 minutes to read the passage. However, it will also be visible on your screen throughout the 20 minutes of writing time.

How many times can you listen to the lecture in the Integrated Task?
A
Only once, so definitely take notes!

Do you have to use the entire time?
A
No. However, you should use any time you have leftover to proofread your work.

How is the Writing Section evaluated?
A
Accoring to the Writing Rubrics provided by ETS, these are the points of evaluation:
- extent to which the topic and/or task is addressed
- organization
- unity, progression and coherence
- effective language use (grammar and vocabulary)
