Trigonometry Flashcards
What are the double angle formulas?
sin2A = 2sinAcosA
cos2A = cos^2A-sin^2A
tan2A = 2tanA/1-tan^2A
can get here by using addition formulas and replacing ‘B’ with ‘A’
What are the basic trig identities?
tan = sin/cos
sin^2+cos^2=1
What is the sine rule?
sinA/A = sinB/B
What is the cosine rule?
a^2 = b^2 + c^2 - 2bc(cosA)
or
cosA= b^2 + c^2 - a^2 /2bc
How do you convert from radians to degrees and vice versa?
Radians to degrees:
divide by pie and x180
Degrees to radians:
divide by 180 and multiply by pie
What is formula for arc length using radians?
rx:
angle x radius
What is the formula for sector area using radians>
1/2 x radius squared x angle
What are the reciprocal trig functions?
sec^2x = 1 + tan^2x
cosec^2x = 1 + cot^2x
What is formula for mutually exclusive?
P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B)
What is formula for non-mutually exclusive events?
P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(AnB)
How to derive sec identity?
divide cos^2x + sin^2x = 1 by cos^2x
How to derive cosec identity?
divide cos^2x + sin^2x = 1 by sin^2x
What is the R addition formula?
asin0 + bcos0 = Rsin(0+a)
acos0+bsin0 = Rcos(0-a)
