Lab Quiz 2 Flashcards

1
Q

`Explain the Neural Networks experiment

A

Trial 1:
1) Line up a single file with classmates, arm length apart
2) Place your hands on the person’s shoulder in front of you
3) As soon as you feel a squeeze, squeeze the shoulders of the person in front of you
4) At the end of the line yell stop
5) Calculate the reaction time
Trial 2:
1) Do the same thing as trial one but with your eyes close and squeeze the opposite shoulder of the person in front of you

Q

Explain the ruler drop experiment

A

Trial 1:
1) hold the ruler between yourself and your lab partner so the “thumb line” is towards the floor
2) Have your lab partner place their thumb and forefinger on either side of the ruler but do not touch it
3) Record the reaction time
Trial 2:
1) Repeat trial one but do it with your eyes closed

A

1) Obtain a tuning fork and mallet
2) strike the tuning fork with the mallet
3) Press the tuning fork to the center of the subject’s head, an equal distance from both ears

18
Q

What is PCT paper

A

It is a bitter flavored paper to test and sees who can taste the substance on the paper vs. something who can not taste it
The whole class tasted

19
Q

Explain the 2 point threshold

A

The two-point threshold is the distance at which, 50% of the time, a subject will feel two points of contact with the body surface as two separate points rather than one point of contact.
This depends on how close and how far apart the neurons are
