Yas Flashcards
What are the two main glands?
Endocrine Glands and Exocrine Glands
Endocrine Glands?
Secrete hormones into the blood system and make up endocrine system
Exocrine glands
Secrete through ducts outside the body like sweat or saliva
Steroid hormones
Made from lipids from cholesterol and they can cross the membrane easily and bond to dna
Nonsterliod
includes proteins or amino acids that bind to surface receptors and surface teapot or triggers demond messages insider the cell to an actio
Role of insulin?
insulin causes second message to trigger migration and opening protein channel to take sugar from bloodstream and put it in the cell
Liver
Breaks down glycogen stores and realizes glucose to the blood
The pancreas
After eating a lot of sugar then it realses insulin
When you don’t eat
Your pancreas releases glucogone when glucose is gone!
ADH is realized from where?
Pituitary Gland
High solute
Dehydration!
Hypothalamus
Can realest certain hormones
ADH tells the kidney to
absorb water so you can not pee to get back to hydration
A drop drop in thyroxin is gonna trigger the thypothums to realease
TRH
The pituitary realses
TSH
The hypothalamus gets pure blood so it can know
When to stop the thyroid hormones
What is thyroid stuff about
Metabolism
If blood calcium levels drop?
We realse PTH from the parathyroid glands to eat away from the bones
If there is too much calcium?
The thyroid gland realses calcitonin(tone it down)
What measures the stimulus
Acceromtor
EMG?
Electro Myo Gram which measure the elctrical impluse
MS
pins and needles, fatigue, weakness, and poor vision
Parkinson’s
Moving in slow motion, shaking, loss of balence
What is alztihems
Degenative brain diasese
ALS
Muscle twitch, slurs, stumbles, weak, muscle weakness
Epilepsy
muscles spasms, contractions, fainting which is an overload of neurons
Huntington’s
Basal ganglia region is affected and it is jerking involuntary difficulty walking
