How are X-ray images formed?
A
Structures that are more dense absorb more of the X-rays, so the more X-rays detected on the film the darker the spot and the less dense the tissue.

How do higher density structures appear and why?
A
Higher density structures absorb more X-rays (cause more X-ray attenuation) and so appear brighter.
