What are combustible tobacco products?
cigarettes, hookah, cigars, cigarillos, filtered cigars, and pipes. This is the most harmful.
What are non combustible tobacco products?
Smokeless(snuffs, snus), heated tobacco, flavored oral nicotine, e-cigarettes.

How many adults use e-cigs?
9.1 million US adults currently use e-cigarettes (4% of adults). With more than 90% have a history of cig smoking
What happened with e-cigs during 2019 and 2020?
High school and middle school students were more likely to use e-cigs with a 1000x increase.
How do e-cigs work?
Battery powered device with atomizer that heats e-liquid to produce aerosol
What is used in e-cigs?
Propylene Glycol/Vegetable Glycerin(PG/VG) base with additives: Nicotine (usually nicotine salts) and Flavoring additive

What do e-cigs and cig share?
Nicotine, Heavy metals, Particulate Matter, Volatile Organic Compounds, Carcinogenic Chemicals
Are e-cigs safer than cigs?
Exposes users to toxic substances, but significantly lower levels than cigarettes. Switching from cigarettes to e-cigarettes reduces harmful exposure.
What are acute effect of e-cigs?
Addiction, respiratory symptoms, cardiovascular disease, sleep problems/mental health, propensity for cigarette smoking
What are the long term effects of e-cig use?
Lung disease(COPD) and CVD(stroke) but very little research done. Cancer is unknown
What are some public health implications of e-cigs?
There is a benefit for harm reduction and smoking cessation for adults who smoke combustible cigarettes. However, there is a risk for youth to become addicted and health risk to all ages.
What is ONP?
Oral nicotine products that are advertised as tobacco free in the US. Usually are pouches, gums, lozenge, mints/tablets, and gummies
What are some examples of ONP?
Lucy, Rogue, Krave, and Zyn
