3 steps on how a VPN works?

A
  1. VPNs carry an encrypted data packet (with a 2nd set of data packets) to the endpoint of the VPN server
  2. VPN Server strips away encryption, leaves top 3 layers of a new packet
  3. New packet is encapsulated with data link information and sent out to LAN
