Natural
Punitive
Logical
Natural consequence
Events that happen as the natural result of an action
Punitive consequences
Imposed by an adult to punish for bad behaviour. It is an unpleasant experience given with the intention to discourage bad behaviour. It’s unrelated to the child’s bad behaviour
Logical consequence
Problem solving action initiated by the adult in response to a child’s mistaken behavior. This action is closely tied to the child’s actions and are intended to resolve the situation not punish the child.
Setting limits
Limits are somewhat flexible rules of the classroom that both educator and child decide
Guide lines for setting limits
Be reasonable
Be clear
Be consistent
Be fair
Be patient
Be child oriented and supportive of childs emotions

Constructive communication
I-statements describe the adults feelings about the situation, focusing on mistaken actions not people
