Q

What is dew point and why is it important to pilots?

A

The dew point given in degrees, is the temperature at which the air can hold no more moisture. When the temp of the air is reduced to the dew point, the air is completely saturated and moisture begins to condense out of the air in the form of fog, dew, frost, clouds rain or snow.

Q

Under which meteorological conditions is airframe icing most likely to occur?

A

A pilot can expect icing when flying in visible precipitation, such as rain or cloud droplets, and the temperature is between +2 and -10 degrees Celsius, through icing can still occur at colder temps
