- farmers take it in turns to use them

Where will the Wakel River Basin Project be based?
- Rajasthan, North West India
Describe the area where it’s based?
- driest and poorest part of India
- largely covered by Thar desert
- summer temps reach 53*
- rainfall is less than 250mm per year
- 46% of rain falls between June and September
Why is clean water supply an issue here?
no water supply so had to find rivers which could be dirty
What problems do people face?
travel for miles to find and collect water for crop, cattle and family
What technique to improve the issue of walking for miles is used?
built a well underground and installed a pipe system to reach all the homes
