Q

What is a prism?

A

A prism is a type of 3D shape with flat sides. It has two ends that are the same shape and size. It has the same cross-section all along the shape from end to end; that means if you cut through it you would see the same 2D shape as on either end.

Q

How do you find that volume of a cylinder?

A

The volume of a cylinder is the area of the circle on the end of the cylinder(cross-section) multiplied by the height.
Volume of a cylinder = Cross-section area x height or πr²h

Q

How do you find the surface area of a cylinder?

A

The surface area of a cylinder is the area of both ends add the circumference of the cross-section multiplied by the height.
Surface area of a cylinder = 2 x cross-section area + circumference of end x height or πd +2πr²

Q

How to find the Surface Area of a prism?

A

Method 1: Add up the areas of all the faces.
Method 2: Find the area of the cross-section and multiply by 2. Then find the perimeter of the cross-section and multiply by the length.
