Vocabulary Flashcards
Weight
a body’s relative mass or the quantity of matter contained by it, giving rise to a downward force; the heaviness of a person or thing.
Volume
the amount of space that a substance or object occupies, or that is enclosed within a container, especially when great.
Solid
a substance or object that is solid rather than liquid or fluid.
Liquid
a substance that flows freely but is of constant volume, having a consistency like that of water or oil.
Gas
a substance or matter in a state in which it will expand freely to fill the whole of a container, having no fixed shape (unlike a solid) and no fixed volume (unlike a liquid).
Molecules
a group of atoms bonded together, representing the smallest fundamental unit of a chemical compound that can take part in a chemical reaction.
Mixture
the product of the random distribution of one substance through another without any chemical reaction, as distinct from a compound.
Physical changes
A chemical change, also known as a chemical reaction, is a process where one or more substances are altered into one or more new and different substances.
Chemical changes
Chemical changes occur when a substance combines with another to form a new substance, called chemical synthesis or, alternatively, chemical decomposition into two or more different substances.
quantitative data
Quantitative data is data expressing a certain quantity, amount or range
qualitative data
Qualitative research is a scientific method of observation to gather non-numerical data.
