Abetting
The encouragement of of the perpetrator of a crime
-does no include any type of physical assistance
Absolute liability offences
Offences that do not require Mens Rea (“guilty mind”, intentional action)
ex. workplace safety, traffic offences
Accessory after the fact
Aiding the perpetators after the crime
ex. giving them a place to hide, providing the get away car
Actus Reus
“The Guilty Action”
the action of committing a crime, offences referred to in criminal law
Aiding
People, not present at the time of the crime, but helping with the preparations of the crime
People indirectly involved in performing a crime
Attempt
Had the intention (Mens Rea) to commit an offence, but did not carry through
-does not require Actus Reus
(the planning of a crime)
Conspiracy
the agreement between two of more people to commit a criminal offence
the action may not actually occur, but still may apply
Counselling
The advising, recommending, persuading of another person to commit a criminal offence

A specific criminal actions
Criminal Law
Law stating the criminal actions that may be taken and the charges that will be applied in the specific case
Criminal negligence
reckless actions, lacking common sense, not knowing the possible consequences
Mens Rea: disregard for others’ lives and safety
Due diligence
the defence that the accused took very reasonable precaution
-included in strict liability offences
General intent
committing a wrongful action with no additional motive
-to commit crime just to break the law
