VLANs Virtual network components Flashcards
Virtual switches
virtual switch works the same as a physical switch but allows multiple switches to exist on the same host
Virtual desktops
user’s data is stored in a data center rather than on an office computer’s hard drive.
secure connection can be established between the centralized repository of user data and that user’s device
Virtual servers
Just as workstations can be virtualized, so can servers: A single server can host multiple logical machines.
Virtual PBX(A virtual private branch exchange)
PBX is a phone system that handles such features as call routing, voicemail, faxing, and so on.
On and off site(Location)
Just as workstations, servers, switches, and PBXs can be made virtual, so, too, can the datacenter. Instead of hosting the datacenter onsite, it is possible to have all of it hosted elsewhere (offsite) and remotely accessed. The advantage
of doing this is that another location/vendor is responsible for maintaining hardware and software. A disadvantage can be your reliance on them to provide the contracted service.
Network as a Service (NaaS)(Pay as you goi)
Just as vendors can offer virtual PBX services, they can also offer an entire network, freeing the company from the need for true administration. Known as Network as a Service (Naas), this stops the company from needing to worry about bandwidth, connectivity, scalability, and all the issues normally associated with networking.
