Explain to Isaac the importance of resistance training exercises (also refer to

A

Builds muscles strength and reduces risk of age related sarcopenia.
Improves bone density and reduces risk of age related osteopenia.
Improves the mind muscle connection.
Reduces the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and other age related diseases.
Helps regulate hormones.
Great for socialising.
Improves mental health.
Improves independance in later years of life.

Explain to the examiner what the risk factors for Isaac’s falls are

A
  • Orthostatic hypotension (dizziness)
  • Atrial fibrillation
  • Low mood, fear and anxiety
  • FEAR OF FALLING makes people apprehensive
  • Asthma attack
  • Medications (beta blocker) - lower HR and BP (dizziness)

Demonstrate and teach Isaac how to get up off the ground.

A
  • Crawl to nearby chair or surface to sit on.
  • Prop up onto elbow, using other arm to stabilise in front.
  • Bend knees and rock over to all fours.
  • Reaching for chair to stabilise, bring knee up so closest foot is flat on ground
  • Push self up to sitting
  • Sit to stand
