Visual Cues Flashcards
Retinal disparity
Seeing object with 2 eyes (2 angles) gives sense of depth (binocular cue)
Convergence
Brain recognizes angle of eyes to get sense of depth (binocular cue)
Relative size
(Monocular cue) seeing things as bigger, we interpret them closer
Interposition
(Monocular) if something overlaps another it’s closer
Relative height
Objects that are higher are father from us (monocular)
Shading and contours
Based on light and shadows we infer if it’s coming out of ground, going in, etc. (monocular)
Motion parallax, relative motion
Mountains in distance move slowly, mile posts move quickly, give sense of distance. (Monocular)
Constancy
Door opens and the shape appears trapezoidal but we still know its a rectangle (same w color shading, etc)
