Q

entiendo vs compendo

A

Entiendo = I understand the words that you are using

Comprendo = I understand the words that you are using and comprehend the larger message/idea/concept being communicated

so No comprendo for me has a deeper meaning, like grasping a philosophical truth or understanding some wisdom.

I usually think of “entender” as “understand” and “comprender” as “comprehend”.

but IN GENERAL, using no entiendo for i dont understand is WAYYYY more common

Q

to love (multiple ways)

A

“Encantar” is used with inanimate objects. ¡Me encanta este piano! (I love this piano!)

“Querer” and “amar” are both used with people. Some say “amar” is a stronger love. Like you can use it with familia members, but it’s also like that “Ay, eres el amor de mi vida. ¡Te amo por siempre jamás! (Oh, you are the love of my life. I’ll love you forever and ever!)

“Querer” can also just be used casually. Like, “Ay, ¡mi amiga te quiero! ¡Gracias por ayudarme!” (Oh, I love ya! Thanks for helping me!)

“Gustar” means “to like” with objects, but can also show a romantic crush as in, “¿Te gusto yo? Porque, me gustas, pero… no sabía cómo decírtelo” (Do you like like me? Because, I like you, but… I didn’t know how to tell you)
