Q

What are the stages of cloning by taking cuttings?

A
  1. A small part of stem with growing bud is removed.
  2. The cut edge is dipped in hormone rooting powder to promote root growth
  3. Cutting put directly into compost in a pot or outside soil.
  4. Roots grow and cutting is now a grown plant which is a clone of parent plant

Q

What are steps that increase success rate of cuttings?

A

Use a non-flowering stem, make oblique cut in the stem, use hormone rooting powder, reduces leaves to 2 or 4, keep cutting well watered and cover cutting with plastic bag

Q

What are advantages of vegetative propagation

A

It is faster to get new individuals than by seed, cropping time is much reduced compared to seed and micropropagation and guaranteed quality of plants
