What are variables?
A
Factors that vary in humans
eg: age, gender, height, intelligence

What is an independent variable?
A
The variable that is changed/manipulated by the experimenter to observe the change upon human behaviour.

What is a dependent variable?
A
The variable that is measured by the researcher. Any effect on the DV should be caused by the change in the IV.

What is an extraneous variable?
A
Anything that could influence the participants performance or behaviour that needs to be controlled.

What is a confounding variable?
A
A variable that is known to have “confounded” (caused/influenced) the results of the study.
