Section 3 criminal law act 1967
A person may use such force as is reasonable in the circumstances in the prevention of crime, or in the effecting or assisting in the lawful arrest of offender or suspected offenders or persons unlawfully at large
Section 76 Criminal justice and immigration act 2008
Section 76 sets out what degree of force is reasonable during criminal proceedings where reliance is placed upon self-defence or section 3 of the criminal law act 1967 which relate to the use of force in the prevention of crime or making an arrest
