Relationships globally not nationally

Large areas where docks and factories were were converted to benefit other industries
London Docklands now a major financial sector
75% today work in service industries
What was the post-industrial economy?
Move away form primary and secondary sectors toward tertiary and quaternary sectors
More land was free to diversify and make money from (golf courses, camp sites)
This was because more food could be grown in a smaller space

Edge of the city- close to airport and railways

What is the reason for UK uneven development?
Coal was a major income for the north so when this stopped, the economy there declined
Agriculture technology meant unemployment for many
South east boomed economically- Docklands e.t.c

Government set up TNCs in areas of high unemployment (Toyota)
HS2- high speed rail line to stimulate growth in north
Northern Powerhouse 2014- developing northern economy
Why are poor transport links an issue?
Poor links are a waste of time and money

HS2- reduce journey times and stimulate growth. However, cuts through countryside and demolishes homes
