What is the history of the Napanook vineyard?
John Daniel of Inglenook bought Napanook, an 120 acre property in Yountville, from Louis Stralla in 1946. Daniel refused to sell this parcel and even told his daughters to never sell the land before his death in 1970. Robert Mondavi purchased most of the Napanook grapes in the years following Daniel’s death before Christian Moueix approached the sisters about a partnership. Thus Dominus was born, first vintage 1983, released 1988.
