4 beats per measure (top number), Quarter note is worth one beat (bottom number)
What’s an Interval?
The distance between two pitches
What are Melodic Intervals (unison to octave)?
The two pitches of an interval are played independently/one at a time
Unison (Two pitches are the same pitch), 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, octave (two pitches are eight spaces away from each other
What are Harmonic intervals (unison to octave)?
Two pitches of an interval are played simultaneously

Symbols that indicate the volume of the music
What’s Piano?
Dynamic symbol which indicates soft volume (p)
What’s Mezzo forte?
Dynamic symbol which indicate a moderately loud volume (mf)

(difference between TIED/SLURRED notes, they look the same)
Two pitches connected by a curved line; difference is that these connected pitches are the same pitch/note
Played on the piano by combining the rhythm of two pitches-quarter note tied to a quarter note is played for the same length as a half note
What are Slurred notes?
Two pitches connected by a curved line- these connected pitches are different pitches/notes
Played on the piano by connecting the notes with as little separation as possible
What’s a 3/4 time signature?
3 beats in a measure (top number)/ Quarter note is worth one beat (bottom number)
What’s a Dotted half note?
Half note with a dot after it- worth three beats of sound
