Unit 4 Attraction and Love Flashcards
BYRNE’S THEORY OF ATTRACTION
if we are giving and receiving rewards and support from one another we are very synchronized
MATCHING PHENOMENON
we find it difficult to be comfortable with someone who is much less or much more attractive, intelligent than we think we are. If we are uncomfortable we tend not to synchronize.
HOMOPHILY
if we share attitudes, interests, favorite activities then we are much more likely to find a way to be synchronized
MERE-EXPOSURE THEORY
people with whom we interact often and well are those with whom we will develop synchrony
Jourard (1964) found that an important factor in the growth of a loving relationship is
self-disclosure
