Describe the demographics of colonial America after the American revolution.

A

America was one of the most ethnically diverse countries. 80% of the population was white while 20% was black.
The white population consisted of English, German, Scots-Irish and various other Europeans.

Describe the developing national culture.

A

After American Revolution, the colonist’s patriotism significantly increased as they defeated Britain. A national identity started to develop, especially among white colonists who felt proud to be American.

The ethnic diversity in America led to new forms of national culture but also, since minorities lacked rights, not everyone was able to be part of the American identity.

A

The two main churches were the Anglican Church and the Congregational Church.

Other religions included the Quakers, Baptists, Catholics, Jews, and Lutherans.
