Unit 2 Flashcards
What is acceleration?
Acceleration is how quickly the velocity is changing
What’s the formula for acceleration?
Acceleration = change in velocity
———————
Time taken
What is mass?
Mass is the amount of ‘stuff’ in an object
What is weight?
Weight is the pull of the gravitational force
What does it mean if there’s no resultant force?
No resultant force means there’s no change in velocity
What is the ‘thinking distance’?
The distance the vehicle travels during the drivers reaction time
What’s the ‘braking distance’?
The distance the car travels under the breaking force
What is ‘power’?
The rate of doing work eg. How much PER SECOND
What is power measured in?
Watts OR J/s
What’s the formula for momentum?
Momentum = mass x velocity
What causes static friction?
When certain insulating materials are rubbed together, negatively charged electrons will be scraped off one and dumped on the other
What’s only ever produced in the movement of electrons?
+ve and -ve
What is a current ?
Current is the flow of electric charge round a circuit
What is total resistance?
The sum of all resistance
What does gradient mean in a distance time graph?
Gradient = speed
