Tarsals, metatarsals, digits
What bones are in the hands ?
Carpals, metacarpals, digits
Parts of the spine ?
Cervical, saccrum, thoracic, lumbar, coccyx
What is the axial skeleton?
Bones in the central column of the body (skull, sternum, rib cage, spine)
What is the appendicular skeleton ?
Looking at everything in the external part of the skeleton (clavicle, arms, pelvis, legs)
What are the 5 synovial joints ?
- ball and socket (shoulder)
- hinge (elbow)
- pivot
- gliding (carpals)
- saddle (thumb)
What are the 5 synovial joint features ?
- hyaline cartilage (lines bone to bone)
- joint capsule (surrounds joint)
- synovial membrane (line capsule)
- ligaments (hold bones together)
- synovial fluid (lubricates inside of joint)
