Puritan
A settlement of people living in a new territory controlled by the home country.
Colony
A policy that requires colonies to only trade and do business with their home country.
Mercantilism
The ability or willingness to accept differences, especially religious differences.
Tolerance
Nonviolent ways that slaves resisted enslavement.
Ex: Running away, destroying tools, working slowly.
Passive Resistance
Laws passed by England to control the shipments of goods from the colonies- All shipments must pass through English ports.
Navigation Acts
A system of government in which religious leaders are in charge.
Theocracy
A form of direct democratic rule in which most or all the members of a community come together to decided laws.
