actions- humeral adduction, extension & medial rotation
Levator scapulae (C4-5)
actions- elevation & inferior rotation of the lateral angle of the scapula
Pectoralis major
actions- humeral adduction, flexion & medial rotation
Pectoralis minor
actions- scapular protraction & assists with depression of the shoulder (assists with forcedinspiration [with scapular fixation])
Rhomboids (C4-5)
actions- scapular retraction & inferior rotation of the lateral angle
Serratus anterior (C5-7)
actions- scapular protraction & upward rotation of the lateral angle of the scapula
Subclavius
actions- depresses point of shoulder
Trapezius
actions- scapular elevation, depression, retraction & superior rotation of the lateral angle
Deltoid (C5-6)
actions- humeral flexion, medial rotation, abduction, extension & lateral rotation
Subscapularis
actions- stabilizes the glenohumeral joint, and medially rotates & adducts humerus
Supraspinatus
actions- initiates humeral abduction
Teres major
actions- humeral adduction & medial rotation
Infraspinatus (C5-6)
actions- stabilizes glenohumeral joint, and lateral rotation of humerus
Teres minor (C5-6)
actions- stabilizes glenohumeral joint, and lateral rotation of humerus
Biceps Brachii (C5, 6)
actions- flexion of the arm & forearm, & supination of the forearm
Brachialis
actions- flexion of the forearm
Coracobrachialis
actions- flexion & adduction of arm
Triceps (C7,8)
actions- extension of the arm (long head) & extension of the forearm (long, lateral & Triceps (C7,8)medial heads)
Abductor pollicis longus
actions- abducts and extends thumb at carpometacarpal joint
