What is massed practice and who is it used by

A

When there is little to no rest in a session. The skill is repeated over and over.
Used by - highly motivated who can cope with boring and repetitive
Very fit - fatigue won’t impact quality of performance
Skill already learned - improves muscle memory

A

When there are breaks in the session providing rest periods, to change an activity or for feedback. Fewer repetitions and more then 1 skill practiced.
Used when - complex, open, high organization

Advantage - prevents boredom. Allow time for recovery and feedback
Disadvantage- takes longer to learn a skill. Could lose concentration
Used by - beginners, young performers and not very fit

A

The situation doesn’t change, routines a repeated and grooved until it becomes automatic, the equipment stays the same.
Eg - floor routine in gymnastics, triple jump

A

When same skill performed in different situations. It is best for developing open skills as performer or team can practice skill under pressure whilst in different situations. Makes it easy to implement in the real game.
