What is conformity?
A
Changing ones behaviours or beliefs to match others, due to real or imagined group pressure.

What is compliance? (Kelman)
A
A temporary type of conformity, where individuals conform publicly but privately maintain their own views.
* usually to gain approval

What is identification? (Kelman)
A
A moderate form of conformity, where we conform to the attitudes of a group because the group has something we value.
- individual feels a sense of belonging
- lasts as long as we value that group

What is internalisation? (Kelman)
A
The deepest form of conformity, where the beliefs of the group become apart of the individuals own belief system
(public + private).
