When the behaviour of an individual is influenced by a group

- Internalisation.
- Compliance.
- Identification.
What is internalisation?
Agreeing with the majority and accepting their views
When might internalisation happen?
If you are in an unfamiliar situation where you don’t know the correct way to behave
What is informational social influence?
Where you look to others for information about how to behave
What is compliance?
Going along with the majority, even if you don’t share their views
When might you comply?
When you just want to seem normal
What is normative social influence?
When the majority influence you to comply
What is identification?
Conforming to what’s expected to fill a social role
