A
deepest level of conformity, known as conversion, views are taken so deep become permenant, beliefs become part of how they see the world

most superficial type of conformity, person conforms publicly with views but will privately disagree

referred to as compliance, gaining approval and acceptance to avoid disapproval of goals. must believe they under surveillance.

- individual accepts info from others about evidence of reality
-more likely if situation is ambiguous
-individual does not comply in behaviour alone but changes their behaviour publicly within group.
