Define tuberculosis
Infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a gram-positive, acid-fast bacilli that is usually spread from person-to-person via airborne droplets
Drug therapy with TB
For drugs are used for the initial two months phase of a six-month regimen
Latent TB infection
Treated with antitubercular drugs to prevent active disease and decrease the number to be carriers in the community
Suspected TB cases
Placed on airborne isolation, receive appropriate drug therapy, and receive immediate medical workup, including chest x-ray, sputum smear, and culture
Nursing care for TB
Nursing diagnosis of ineffective breathing pattern, imbalanced nutrition, noncompliance, and activity tolerance
