Trigonometry and Pythagoras Theorem Flashcards
Define the Pythagoras Theorem
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
c is the hypoteneus of the triangle.
Can only be applied on a right-angle triangle.
Sides of Trigonometry
Define Hypotenous
The longest sideof a right-angle triangle
Sides of Trigonometry
Define Opposite
The one side across the given angle.
Sides of Trigonometry
Define Adjacent
The side next to the given angle.
You can simply find the adjacent side by the process of elimination.
Main functions of Trigonometry
What is the Tan Equation?
TOA
Tan (Θ) = Opposite/Adjacent
What is the Cos Equation?
CAH
CAH (Θ) = Adjacent/Hypotenous
What is the Sin Equation?
SOH
SOH (Θ) = Opposite/Hypotenous
How do we find the Θ using the Main Functions?
Tan (x) = Opposite / Hypotenous
x = tan^-1 (Opposite / Hypotenous)
Same applies for the other functions as well.
Do not input * in the last step, tan^-1 Opposite/ Hypotenous is enough.
