what are the limitations of ethical guidelines

A

British Psychology Society governs ethical guidelines which are there to help researchers make moral judgements. research in university has to gain approval from ethical committees before it commences to protect participants and researchers. This can sometimes disrupt the experiment itself

they were seen as unethical however, they did take place before modern ethical guidelines were designed.

A

whether “the end justifies the means” this means that if a goal is morally important enough, any method of getting it is acceptable.

A

some people say EG stifles SP. if there is a conflict of interest between scientific progress and rights and protection of the participant, the participants rights should always come first.

A

there are potential social consequences for participants or groups of people represented by research. so even if ethical guidelines are stringently followed there is still possibility that research is unethical as it could be socially sensitive.
