Trauma Flashcards
How patient with a femoral neck fracture will appear
Leg in external rotation and abduction, with shortening
What is a Galeazzi fracture
Distal 1/3 radius shaft fracture with DRUJ injury
3 types of neck of femur fractures
Intracapsular: From femoral heads to the femoral neck, proximal to trochanters
Extracapsular Intertrochanteric:Between greater and lesser trochanters
Extracapsular Subtrochanteric: From LT to 5cm distal
What is a Galeazzi fracture
fracture of the distal radius AND dislocation of the ulnar head at the distal radioulnar joint.
What is a Monteggia fracture
fracture of the proximal ulna AND dislocation of the radial head at the proximal radioulnar joint
what is Shenton’s line and what is it used for
It is an imaginary line drawn from the inferior edge of the superior pubic ramus to the medial edge of the femoral neck. It is used to help assess for subluxation/dislocation of the hip
